All adoptions involve challenges, risks, and sometimes difficult decisions have to be made by those involved.

Adoption should be considered carefully, however, it is not for everybody. Some people look at the risks and challenges involved and decide not to proceed.

Adoption can be a difficult journey but it need not be an impossible one. It can also provide a rich and rewarding parenting experience for you. While I can offer you my experience, I cannot guarantee that you will adopt a child, or that the child you adopt will be healthy.

There are, in fact, no guarantees in adoption. It is a process of learning about your options, and selecting a course of action. I would love that this be a successful experience for you. An important step towards this result is for you to become well prepared for many eventualities. This preparation will be invaluable when it is time to make difficult decisions. You must remember that even birth parents are not certain of their children's health and fate. Ultimately the decision has challenges, as any parent will have, but it is worth it in the end.

Whether your adoption takes place locally, Internationally, Private or Public, my position is to assist you and be there for you for how long as you need me and when you need me. From the time you have the first thoughts of adoption and what steps to take, to when you will hopefully bring a child home. Right through to the times you need a supportive person to help in the “what will I do stages”, or the just want “to share what happened today.”

Adoption is an amazing experience. But it is not for everyone, it is not just bringing home a child, it will be constant questions from that child, your friends, family and even community. What information you exchange will be up to you, but these are some of the challenges you will face. Adoption is frustrating, challenging and a very emotional experience. It may even be more so then giving birth, but only you will know if you are ready. Hopefully with my help I can guide you to making the right decision and being there for you when you need it.
